Hoyas Football Off to 0-3 Start
The Georgetown Hoyas football team is off to the same kind of start that’s plagued them in years past, and another year already seems lost for the Hoya football squad.
The Hoya squad opened up their 2009 campaign on the road against Holy Cross, where they showed promise on defense until giving up two fourth quarter touchdowns en route to a 20-7 loss.
The Hoyas remained convinced that they should have beaten Holy Cross, however; their results in the next two weeks suggest otherwise.
With new lights at their home Multi-Sport Field, there was excitement around the program for the first time in years regarding night games. Unfortunately, the football team failed to muster the same excitement in their ranks, as they opened the stadium with a lackluster 28-3 loss to Lafayette.
The losses kept on rolling as Yale came to Washington, D.C. last weekend, where they tromped the Hoyas, 31-10. In the game, the Hoyas missed a 22-yard field goal, suggesting the level of talent surrounding the program.
Georgetown welcomes Howard to the Multi-Sport Field on Saturday for Georgetown’s Homecoming, with the football team looking to make it two in a row against cross-town Howard. Last year, Howard had nearly half of its players ineligible for the game against Georgetown, and still managed to keep it close with a final score of 10-7. (Howard’s players played offense and defense.)
